The Events

Each Event has two qualifying days (one for each Club). The top eight placed teams on each day will progress to the Final. The first-placed team for each Club will be paired with four celebrity Legends for the Final.

Each day finishes with a chance to meet the Legends, a superb dinner and entertainment.
Entry fees cover participation in golf and dinner on both the qualifying day and Finals day, for those successful in reaching the Final.

Eligibility

Each event is a team golf tournament open to male and female amateur golfers over the age of 18 years, who have paid the relevant entry fee. The team may consist of any combination of 4 amateur golfers (i.e. all male, all female or mixed).

Itineray

• The heats start with a warm welcome with coffee and bacon rolls, before tee-off
• Teams play 18 holes of 4-ball golf on the spectacular championship course
• The game will be based on a 4-ball Stableford concept. Stableford rules can be found here.

The final will be a Ryder Cup style format.

Conditions of play

Handicaps

Handicap limit for men is 28 and women is 36.

Courtesy strokes for ladies will be issued by the organisers where applicable.

Verification of up to date handicaps will be required upon registration at the tournament venue from all competitors. Failure to present an up to date handicap certificate will result in a 3/4 of handicap allowance.

A Handicap can be obtained by players wishing to compete, but who are not associated with a club by sending three verifiable scores cards to their national golf union.

Ties

In the event of a tie for prizes or position, the winners will be determined by card play-off.

Entry Fees

The team entry fee for the heats is £600 +VAT per team or £150 +VAT per person.

Teams will be entered on a first come first served basis into the tournament.

The maximum number of teams per event is 32.

The name of the Team Captain must be submitted at the time of booking together with a Team Name. If possible at the time of entry, names of team members should be submitted otherwise names will be taken upon registration at the tournament.

Closing Date

The closing date for entries is 14 days prior to the event date. After this time applicants will be sent a copy of the draw for order of play which will be conducted at random by the organisers.

Once the draw has been conducted, tee-off times cannot be changed. Included with this will be further competitor information.

Green fees and catering for tournament rounds are provided for competitors only. Travel costs to the heats and additional food and drink are at the individuals own expense.

Withdrawals

Should a team need to withdraw at any stage please inform the Legends Derby Golf Classics office on 0845 475 7501.

Entry fees will be non refundable for those withdrawals after the closing date for entries.

Grand Final

The format of play will be based on the Ryder Cup format. Additional information will be submitted upon qualification.

In the event of two or more of the competitors in the winning team at a regional qualifier being unable to participate at the Grand Final, the next placed available team in the relevant regional qualifier will take the teams place.

All stages of the tournament are held under the R&A Rules of Golf Ltd and the local rules of each golf course.

The Organisers decisions will be final, and will decide all disputes.

Lights, Camera, Action……..

Our Legends events are filmed for broadcast on Sky Sports. As long as the television crew won’t put you off your swing, your friends, family and peers can watch you take on the opposition.

Both qualifying and Finals days are filmed and a DVD made available so you can relive your day, hole by hole.
